Currently the largest cantilevered wooden bridge in Europe, this feat of Styrian timber construction is approved for heavy-load traffic and links St. Georgen with St. Lorenzen.
550m³ laminated larch wood from Styria was used in the construction, and offers a load capacity of 69 tonnes. The bridge is 85 m long, 8.60 m wide and tops the River Mur at a height of 25 m with a span of 45 m.
The bridge is an impressive illustration of the possibilities of glulam construction and can be regarded as an innovative project in timber bridge building.
The Holzeuropabrücke forms part of the World of Wood tour “BUILDING meets ARCHITECTURE”. Further information is available on the website.
