Those looking to get active away from the slopes might like to try cross-country skiing, ice skating or tobogganing or the many winter hiking trails on touring skis and snowshoe hikes. Experience winter in the region in an active manner and make the most of the varied selection of sports and leisure activities on offer! 

Depending on the snow conditions, there are up to 40 km of double wide trails available for cross-country skiing. The Weirerteich trail in Laßnitz bei Murau has its own snow-making facilities and floodlights along approximately 2 km of track, and there's even a biathlon shooting range.

Experience nature mantled in white on a snowshoe hike in the Murau-Kreischberg region! Guided snowshoe hikes led by experts are available on selected dates. Full moon hikes promise a remarkable winter experience.

However, you don't need snowshoes to explore the area in winter. High-altitude trails such as the Kreischbergsee circular route and the Zirben-Höhenweg are waiting to be discovered.

The 'peak performers' among you should definitely try a ski tour. There are unlimited possibilities in the Murau-Kreischberg region for ski tourers. Explore the various routes on the Frauenalpe, or the surrounding mountains, such as the Preber, the Greim or the Zirbitzkogel.

For the youngest visitors, a winter holiday isn't complete without some ice skating or tobogganing. Of course, there are some great rinks available, as well as an excellent tobogganing facility about 25 minutes away from Murau by car.
