Holiday for the family and children
Family holiday in summer
You can take it for granted that there will be peak mountain experiences for the whole family in the Murau-Kreischberg region. The gondola lift on the Kreischberg will help you complete the initial, more difficult ascent. The local recreation area of the Frauenalpe is also fantastic for exploring with children. There are plenty of mountain huts and refreshment stops around, so your backpack doesn't need to weigh the earth. Try your hand at golf on the Kreischberg, which is always a worthwhile shared experience for everyone. Bike hire points offer bicycles for all members of the family, enabling you to discover the region together. If the weather isn't very nice, we recommend a visit to the indoor pool in Murau or the Aqualux Therme in Fohnsdorf. Side note: the 34 m tube slide isn't just fun for the kids...
Family holiday in winter
In winter, the Kreischberg ski resort always proves an irresistible draw for visitors of all ages. For the little ones, there are ski schools for a quick and safe introduction to skiing. Adults can head for the snow park and the tubing runs. Plus, parents can sit back comfortably on a sun terrace and enjoy Styria's invigorating winter air. Of course, there are things to do away from the slopes too. Why not try a snowshoe hike or visit the climbing centre? For more intrepid guests, there are also paragliding taster courses on offer.
Accommodation for your family holiday
All sorts of accommodation is available to families in both summer and winter: hotels offering activities for children, the campsite, a farm holiday establishment or even a horse ranch with its own swimming lake. The choice is yours!
Offers designed especially for children
Make your way from one children's playground to the next, and discover the region that way! Plan a bit more time for the "Generationen-Spielplatz" in Murau's town park, as it has a multitude of attractions to conquer from the trampoline to the swing, the water play facilities to the climbing course. The Letters Rally is good fun for kids up to about 15. On a stroll along the educational animal trail, you will learn a few interesting facts about the region's animal kingdom. And children can play at doctors at the Stolzalpe Health and Science Museum (Gesundheitswerkstätte)!
