RANTEN   Only 9 km away from Murau, in the middle of the beautiful Ranten valley, you will find the village Ranten.    Ranten is the birth place of Martin Zeiler (1589-1661), who was one of the first travel jounalists of the world. He wrote the first travel guide (Fidus Achates), and to honour his activities Ranten established a Martin Zeiler garden which is located at the main square. Expanded walking ways along the Ranten brooks, hiking through dark green forests, to crystal clear mountain lakes and summits.
